Seed Arbitration - By assisting the Florida Department of Agriculture in settling complaints and disputes between seed dealers, farmers and others. It does so as an active supporter of the Seed Investigations and Conciliation Council.
Education - In cooperation with The University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS), Florida Seed Association jointly conducts seminars presenting the very latest information in seed technology, plant growing, handling, and vital industry news. This Seminar customarily features speakers who are recognized industry leaders, outstanding researchers, growers and governmental regulatory officials.
Research & Development - The Association works closely with the Florida Department of Agriculture and the University of Florida - Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences in matters regarding seed, plants, pesticides and fertilizers.
Legislation - Our Legislative Committee constantly monitors federal and state seed laws, pending legislation, and regulations affecting our membership. Constant vigilance is required regarding proposed industry regulation. Committee trips to Tallahassee are made when necessary to advise lawmakers and to prevent unfavorable pending legislation. Florida Seed Association members meet regularly with the Florida Department of Agriculture's Seed Industry Technical Committee. The Committee is concerned with seed testing and labeling, interstate shipping and with many problems involved with seed handling.
Membership - Florida Seed Association provides communication, education and guidance to Florida's seed, plant and garden supply industries. A newsletter called the
Kernel keeps all members current on upcoming activities, industry news and personnel changes.
